Description
Polispec VIS-NIT is the Polispec line spectrophotometer dedicated to transmission applications.

Operating in the 580–1080 nm range, it combines VIS-NIR technology with a fiber-optic input that allows maximum integration flexibility with measurement cells, flow cells, custom optical heads and configurations developed for specific process requirements.

Transmittance measurement is particularly suitable for liquids, solutions, partially transparent materials or samples with variable optical density, where light passes through the product and provides complementary information compared with reflectance. This configuration is useful when variations in concentration, color, turbidity or optical absorption need to be monitored continuously and repeatably.

The core of the system is its progressive signal modulation mechanism, which automatically adapts the instrument response to variations in the sample’s optical density — a key feature when working with products whose transparency or concentration changes over time or between batches. In addition, automatic internal references ensure measurement stability and repeatability over time, regardless of operating conditions.

Polispec VIS-NIT is therefore a flexible solution for quality control, ideal for users working with liquids, solutions or materials with variable optical absorption, from the food and beverage industry to the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

From VIS-NIR transmission measurement to process control: the software integration of Polispec VIS-NIT

Every spectral measurement becomes valuable when the data is collected, managed, interpreted and made usable for quality control or process optimization. For this reason, ITPhotonics has developed a native software ecosystem designed as an integral part of the hardware, not as an accessory component.

Polidata, Poliprocess, CMM/CME and SP3Manager are distinct but complementary modules, designed to meet different operational needs: from at-line measurement to calibration management, through to in-line integration with PLC, SCADA and industrial automation systems.

Instrument and software therefore form a single technological hub that transforms VIS-NIR transmission spectroscopy into concrete operational data, useful for quality control, continuous monitoring and the development of chemometric models.

Polidata is the native software developed to guide operators through every stage of mobile or line-side work. From instrument configuration to sample collection and advanced reporting, it provides complete control of the system without requiring complex IT skills.

It manages two distinct operating modes: analysis mode, for immediate measurement and comparison of samples, and sample collection mode, for building calibration datasets and managing measurement sessions in a structured way.

All analyses are stored in a searchable local database, with complete history by product, batch and operator. Reporting can be customized in both content and layout, and data can be exported in the main formats (CSV, DAT, PDF, XML) for integration with other management systems.

Poliprocess is the software module developed for in-line applications and for integrating Polispec instruments into machines and production plants. More than a simple management interface, it acts as a true industrial connectivity platform, capable of transforming spectral data into control signals that can be used directly by automation systems.

It natively integrates the main industrial communication protocols — Modbus TCP (client and server), ISO over TCP (Siemens S7), OPC-UA Server, ISOBUS, CANBUS and Analog Output — ensuring compatibility with PLCs, SCADA and supervision systems installed in the plant.

Dedicated datalogger modules allow continuous measurement recording with timestamps, alarm management and configuration of quality thresholds. It is the ideal solution for transforming the spectrophotometer into an active and intelligent node within the process control network.

CMM (Calibration Model Manager) and CME (Calibration Model Editor) are the software packages dedicated to the management, standardization and protection of chemometric calibration models.

A critical aspect in industrial spectral applications is compatibility between models developed with third-party software, such as SensoLogic or Ucal, and the instrument’s operating software. The CMM/CME system solves this issue: through dedicated ADKs for Polidata and Poliprocess, it makes calibration models directly usable within the Polispec ecosystem, regardless of the suite with which they were originally developed.

In addition to full compatibility, the package manages model standardization strategies, encryption of calibration data to protect intellectual property, implementation of calculated parameters and multilingual support.

SP3Manager is the application dedicated to managing raw spectral data. It is the reference tool for users who work directly with spectra generated by Polispec systems, such as researchers, data scientists and laboratory technicians, and who need to access information in a flexible and structured way.

The system enables acquisition, visualization and analysis of spectra, construction and organization of calibration datasets, and export of spectral files in the most common formats for processing through third-party chemometric suites.

It is the essential starting point for developing new analytical models: from collecting reference spectra to creating balanced and representative datasets, SP3Manager supports the entire calibration development workflow, making the process reproducible and traceable.
