Polispec NIR Inline Contact
Contact NIR spectrophotometer (900–1700 nm) for real-time qualitative and quantitative multiparameter analysis of product composition. Designed for integration into production lines on pipelines, reactors, and tanks, it combines measurement stability, a cooled InGaAs sensor, and compatibility with industrial automation systems.
Operating in the 900–1700 nm range, it enables multiparameter analysis of product components and properties — such as moisture, protein, fat, sugars, composition, and quality indexes — through dedicated chemometric models.
The cooled InGaAs sensor ensures high stability, sensitivity, and signal-to-noise ratio, even in continuous production environments. The contact configuration ensures measurement repeatability and can be integrated on pipelines, reactors, tanks, mixers, and process points where real-time and automatic measurement is required. The availability of different probe types makes the instrument suitable for a wide variety of processes and products, including high temperatures, corrosive environments, or food-grade applications.
Thanks to compatibility with PLCs and industrial automation systems, Polispec NIR Inline Contact transforms NIR spectroscopy into real-time operational data, useful for optimizing the process, reducing production variability, and supporting quality control decisions directly in line.

Direct integration with machine or plant.
The system can be equipped with an internal computing unit that enables direct connection to industrial automation systems, such as dryers, mixers, process lines, or control rooms.
The module, equipped with Ethernet or CANBUS connectivity depending on the model, allows the instrument to communicate directly with the plant without the need for intermediate devices such as panel PCs.
In this configuration, no local graphical interface is provided: Polispec NIR operates as an integrated sensor, exchanging data with the plant through standard industrial protocols, including:
Modbus TCP (client/server)
ISO over TCP / Siemens S7
OPC-UA Server
Analog Output
Integration via external computing unit.
The system is equipped with an RS422 output and interfaces with an external processing unit, such as a panel PC installed near the measurement point.
This configuration allows the instrument to be managed through a dedicated graphical interface, offering data visualization, local process supervision, and the possibility of direct interaction with the operator.
It is particularly suitable for contexts where local measurement management or greater flexibility in data visualization is required.
Every industrial process has specific operating conditions: product type, temperature, abrasiveness, pressure, flow velocity, hygienic requirements, and access mode to the measurement point.
For this reason, Polispec NIR Inline Contact is designed as a modular platform, supported by optical probes and installation kits developed to adapt to different process conditions without compromising the quality of the analytical data.
Polispec optical probes are based on a patented proprietary technology that allows the interface geometry between the instrument and the plant to be adapted while maintaining stable analytical performance.
This approach guarantees:
Consistency of results across different installations
Maintenance of performance over time
Interchangeability between different configurations
For particularly complex applications, ITPhotonics can develop dedicated installation solutions designed to meet specific process, measurement point, operating environment, or existing plant integration requirements.
Every NIR analysis becomes truly useful when the data is acquired, managed, communicated, and made actionable. For this reason, ITPhotonics has developed a native software ecosystem, designed as an integral part of the hardware rather than an accessory component.
Polidata, Poliprocess, CMM/CME, and SP3Manager are distinct yet complementary modules, designed to meet different operational needs: from at-line measurement to calibration management, up to in-line integration with PLCs, SCADA, and industrial automation systems.
Instrument and software thus form a single technological hub that transforms NIR spectroscopy into concrete operational data, useful for quality control, process optimization, and chemometric model development.
Polidata is the native software developed to guide operators through every phase of mobile or at-line workflows. From instrument configuration and sample collection to advanced reporting, it offers complete system control without requiring complex IT skills.
It manages two distinct operating modes: analysis mode, for immediate measurement and sample comparison, and sample collection mode, for building calibration datasets and structured management of measurement sessions.
All analyses are stored in a searchable local database, with a complete history by product, batch, and operator. Reports are fully customizable in both content and layout, and data can be exported in major formats (CSV, DAT, PDF, XML) for integration with other management systems.
Key features:
- Complete instrument control in analysis and sample collection modes
- Historical analysis database with search filters by product, batch, date, and operator
- Customizable reporting
- Multi-format export (CSV, DAT, PDF, XML)
- Intuitive touchscreen interface designed for practical field and laboratory use
Poliprocess is the software module developed for in-line applications and the integration of Polispec instruments within production machinery and plants. More than a simple management interface, it operates as a true industrial connectivity platform, capable of transforming spectral data into control signals directly usable by automation systems.
It natively integrates the main industrial communication protocols — Modbus TCP (client and server), ISO over TCP (Siemens S7), OPC-UA Server, ISOBUS, CANBUS, and Analog Output — ensuring compatibility with PLCs, SCADA, and supervision systems present in the plant.
Dedicated datalogger modules enable continuous measurement recording with timestamps, alarm management, and quality threshold configuration. It is the ideal solution to transform the spectrophotometer into an active and intelligent node in the process control network.
Key features:
- Modbus TCP (client and server), ISO over TCP / Siemens S7, OPC-UA Server
- ISOBUS, CANBUS, Analog Output, and additional protocols upon request
- Integrated datalogger with timestamp, alarm management, and quality thresholds
- Compatible with major PLCs, SCADA, and supervision systems
- Parameter and calibration curve configuration directly from the software
CMM (Calibration Model Manager) and CME (Calibration Model Editor) are software packages dedicated to the management, standardization, and protection of chemometric calibration models.
A critical aspect in industrial spectral applications is the compatibility between models developed with third-party software, such as SensoLogic or Ucal, and the instrument’s operating software. The CMM/CME system solves this issue: through specific ADKs for Polidata and Poliprocess, it makes calibration models directly usable within the Polispec ecosystem, regardless of the suite in which they were originally developed.
In addition to full compatibility, the package manages model standardization strategies, calibration data encryption for intellectual property protection, the implementation of calculated parameters, and multilingual support.
Key features:
- Compatibility with chemometric models developed using third-party suites
- Dedicated ADKs for integration with Polidata and Poliprocess
- Management of model standardization strategies across different instruments
- Encryption of calibration models for intellectual property protection
- Implementation of calculated parameters and multilingual support
SP3Manager is the application dedicated to raw spectral data management. It is the reference tool for those working directly with spectra generated by Polispec systems, such as researchers, data scientists, and laboratory technicians, who need to access information in a flexible and structured way.
The system enables the acquisition, visualization, and analysis of spectra, the construction and organization of calibration datasets, and the export of spectral files into the most common formats for processing with third-party chemometric software.
It is the essential starting point for developing new analytical models: from collecting reference spectra to creating balanced and representative datasets, SP3Manager supports the entire calibration development workflow, making the process reproducible and traceable.
Key features:
- Import, visualization, and analysis of spectra generated by Polispec instruments
- Construction and organization of structured calibration datasets
- Export in various formats (CSV, JCAMP-DX, SPC, etc.) for processing with third-party software
- Traceable workflow for the development and validation of new chemometric models
- Reference tool for R&D, laboratories, and product development teams
These are complemented by specific accessories that expand the instrument’s operating modes, allowing it to be used also in at-line and portable configurations.
This modularity allows the solution to be configured according to specific operational needs: from continuous in-line monitoring to decentralized quality control.
All accessories are developed to ensure high standards of reliability, stability, and measurement repeatability, even under variable process conditions.
