WHAT ARE PROBES?

Polispec probes are the optical interface between the spectrometer and the product in CONTACT systems. They are a key element of the instrument architecture because they make it possible to adapt the sensor to different installation conditions while ensuring optical performance, mechanical robustness and process compatibility.

Each application may require different characteristics: wall thickness at the measurement point, flange or mounting-kit type, pressure conditions, process temperature, product abrasiveness, hygiene requirements or compatibility with food grade environments. For this reason, Itphotonics has developed a modular probe system designed to integrate Polispec spectrometers into process installations or application-specific accessories.

A patented solution

The interface system developed by Itphotonics is based on a patented solution that allows the probe to be configured according to specific application requirements. Probes can be manufactured with different thicknesses, geometries and material combinations, including multilayer or multi-material configurations.

This flexibility makes it possible, for example, to use different materials in the various functional areas of the probe: a stainless-steel surface in contact with the product to ensure mechanical strength and process compatibility, and a body made of an engineering material such as POM to improve thermal insulation or adapt the probe to the instrument structure and installation point.

Many configurations

Dedicated configurations are available for liquids, solids, powders, gels or abrasive materials. The probes can be designed to resist wear, thermally isolate the sensor from the product flow, operate on pressurized pipes or cells, or meet specific hygiene and food-compatibility requirements.

Thanks to this modularity, Polispec probes turn the spectrometer into a solution that can be fully integrated into the process while maintaining measurement quality even under variable and complex industrial conditions.
